Rome, the most beatiful movie set in the world

Message from the President of the Italian Republic

“Universal Expositions are an unparalleled instrument for the sharing of ideas, projects, experiences and resources, capable of stimulating the active participation of people from the most corners of the world. Far from representing a simple showcase of the Country that has the honour to host them, they perform an essential function in outlining and harmonising solutions to major global challenges. On a par with the Olympic Games, that Italy will have the privilege of hosting in their winter edition in 2026, Expositions are an opportunity for people and different cultures to meet; a specific characteristic of the laudable activity that the Bureau International des Expositions undertakes in this extremely difficult international situation.

Aware of this fundamental role, Italy is applying to host the Universal Exposition of 2030 in its Capital, in line with the Country’s traditional inclination towards multilateralism and constructive engagement with other nations and cultures. The theme chosen, “People and Territories: Regeneration, Inclusion and Innovation”, aims to deliver sustainable solutions, along with Bureau member Countries, to identify new ways we can live in our territories given the challenges we are facing at this time. The intent is to create an exposition that wants to deliver a poly-centric and truly inclusive future, that offers every human being the same opportunities, both in terms of infrastructure and services and cultural and social development.

The Exposition of 2030, which as well as coinciding with the centenary celebrations of the Bureau, will also take place on the same year that the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals come up for review, has a highly symbolical value.

It will fall at a cross-roads in time when the International Community has to find new ways of tackling the challenges posed to fair development, to ensure the security and prosperity of our populations. The Expo in Rome intends to make a significant contribution to these fundamental considerations and all connected processes.”
